Digital Learning at Warragul Regional College
Digital learning is a core and compulsory component of the curriculum at Warragul Regional College. Students use laptops daily to access Canvas, Compass, learning resources, assessments, communication tools, and other educational activities.
To fully participate in learning opportunities, every student is expected to have access to their own laptop computer.
Choosing the Right Device
When selecting a device, families should consider:

- Warranty and accidental damage protection
- Compatibility with school systems
- Availability of technical support

Important Notice
Warragul Regional College does not support:
- Google Chromebooks
- Tablets (iPad, Android tablets, etc.)
Recommended Purchasing Options
Families may:
Option 1 – School Recommended Portal
Purchase through the College’s approved device portal. These devices are:
- Pre-approved for compatibility
- Supported by school IT
- Covered by approved warranty arrangements
Option 2 – External Retailer
Purchase from a retailer of your choice, ensuring the device meets all minimum specifications.
Please note that support for externally purchased devices may be limited.
Wi-Fi and Network Access
To access the College wireless network, students and parents/carers must agree to:

- Victorian Child Safe Standards
- Victorian Digital Learning in Schools Policy
- Victorian Cybersafety and Responsible Use of Digital Technologies Policy
Devices must be configured by the Warragul Regional College IT Department before access is granted.

*Australia’s physical activity and sedentary behaviour guidelines include the following recommendations for children between 5-17 years-old regarding sedentary recreational screen time:
- no more than 2 hours of sedentary recreational screen time per day
- avoiding screen time 1 hour before sleep
- keeping screens out of the bedroom.

- Students are encouraged to speak with their parents or teachers prior to signing this agreement if they don’t understand what it means, or if they have questions they would like to discuss.
- Complete the agreement, including parent/carer acknowledgement and please return it to general office.
