VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING

The VET program at Warragul Regional College provides students with hands-on training in a variety of industries, enabling them to gain nationally recognized qualifications while still in school. VET courses are available as part of both the VCE and VM pathways, ensuring students develop industry-specific skills that prepare them for employment or further education.

Only students with Department Of Education accounts (@schools.vic.edu.au) can access the VET Expression of Interest Form for 2026.

What is VET?
VETDSS stands for Vocational Educational & Training Delivered to Secondary Students and is designed to expand opportunities and pathways for senior secondary students (Years 10-12) and improve educational outcomes in line with the Victorian Government’s objective to increase the number of young people completing Year 12 or equivalent. The courses are hands-on programs designed to give students a head start in life by completing a nationally recognised qualification while still attending school.

VET programs involve completing a Cert II or III course which will give students the knowledge and practical skills that address the employment needs of industry and provides opportunities for students to participate in Structured Workplace Learning, that could then lead into future employment.

It provides the opportunity to continue these studies at a higher level (Certificate IV, Diploma) after completing secondary school.
These programs are completed over one or two years and contribute to the completion of both VCE and VCE Vocational Major (VM).
Some courses have scored assessments which mean they directly contribute to an ATAR score that VCE students gain on completion of Year 12.
